Liverpool v Arsenal - FA Community Shield Final

Klopp before Liverpool v Arsenal

Jurgen Klopp said to the media ahead of Liverpool’s FA Community Shield Final against Arsenal at Anfield: “All the boys which were not involved so far or got slight knocks in pre-season will not be available for tomorrow, but [are] getting closer, really closer, closer and closer so hopefully the majority of them can start training completely normal after the Arsenal game, but this game is now a bit too early for them. Maybe one or two [will be] involved in the squad, we have to see.
Jurgen added about VVD: “Virgil looks fine, he looks not good because he has the cut there, but apart from that it should be fine”.

Hendo and Matip injury update

“That’s it pretty much. Hendo and Joel [Matip] looking really good, on a good way. Ox, early stages but good. Shaq, good. Trent, very close, we have to make a decision about tomorrow. Harry [Wilson] looks good”.
Takumi Minamino, James Milner, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott are also expected to make their way onto the pitch off the bench. Though Divock Origi is unlikely to be involved due to an apparent injury.

Andy Robertson motivation before the final

“Last season we had that chance [to begin the campaign by lifting a trophy] as well but this feels a bit different this time – you know, we’re there on merit this time,” the left-back told Liverpoolfc.com.
“Last year we were there because Man City won every trophy going and we’d finished second to them. This year we’re there as champions, Arsenal are obviously there as FA Cup winners. Obviously we fell short last season but we want to start the season right and we want to try to win the trophy that we didn’t get last year and that will be our aim.
“Since the day we came back we’ve been preparing towards that and hopefully we’ve done enough in a short space of time to get fit enough, to get the feeling back and hopefully we can do enough to get the job done and get our hands on that trophy.”
